General Description and Product Use
CTL 551 is a low viscosity, easy to handle zirconium based cross-linker that can be used as a viscosity modifier in oil and gas well stimulation formulations. CTL 551 contains no flammable components and is both VOC and triethanolamine free. The product is temperature activated in low pH formulations within the range pH 4-7. Typically at pH 5.0-5.5 the cross-linker will temperature activate around 115-130 °F. CTL 551 can also be used as a surface cross-linker in high pH formulations.
Recommended addition levels are 1-2 gpt and at these levels the product offers excellent fluid viscosity stability while also providing higher peak viscosity at lower overall zirconium addition levels when compared to alternative zirconium based products.
CTL 551 is compatible with guar, derivatised guar and derivatised cellulose polymers.
